Ingredients

4 cups all-purpose flour

1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) instant yeast

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon salt

1 cup whole milk, warmed to about 110°F (43°C)

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 large egg

1/4 cup honey

2 tablespoons unsalted butter, for brushing

Instructions

Prepare the Yeast Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm milk, granulated sugar, and instant yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy, indicating that the yeast is active.

Combine Wet Ingredients: Add the melted butter, honey, and egg to the yeast mixture. Whisk until well combined.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together the flour and salt. Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing with a wooden spoon or spatula until a shaggy dough forms.

Knead the Dough: Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. If you have a stand mixer, you can also knead the dough using the dough hook attachment for about 5-7 minutes on medium speed.

First Rise: Place the kneaded dough into a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and allow it to rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Shape the Rolls: Once the dough has risen, gently punch it down to release the air. Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball and place them in a greased 9x13-inch baking pan, ensuring they are close but not touching.

Second Rise: Cover the pan with the kitchen towel and let the rolls rise again for about 30-35 minutes until they puff up.

Preheat the Oven: While the rolls are rising, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Bake: Once the rolls have risen, bake them in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until they are golden brown on top and sound hollow when tapped.

Brush with Butter: Remove the rolls from the oven, and quickly brush the tops with melted butter for added flavor and to keep them soft.

Cool and Serve: Allow the rolls to cool slightly in the pan before serving warm. Enjoy your cloud-like dinner rolls with butter, honey, or your favorite spread!
