Ingredients

1 lb ground turkey

1/4 cup sweet chili sauce

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 small shallot, finely chopped

1 tablespoon fish sauce (or soy sauce for a vegetarian option)

1 tablespoon fresh lime juice

1 tablespoon fresh cilantro, chopped

1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/4 teaspoon salt

4 whole wheat burger buns

Lettuce leaves, for serving

Sliced cucumber and red onion, for serving

Extra sweet chili sauce, for drizzling

Instructions

Mix the Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey, sweet chili sauce, minced garlic, chopped shallot, fish sauce (or soy sauce), lime juice, cilantro, grated ginger, black pepper, and salt. Mix gently until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

Form the Patties: Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each portion into a patty, about 1/2 inch thick. Make a slight depression in the center of each patty to prevent it from puffing up during cooking.

Preheat the Grill: Preheat your grill or a skillet over medium heat. Lightly oil the grill grates or the skillet with non-stick spray.

Cook the Patties: Place the patties on the grill or in the skillet. Cook for 5-7 minutes on each side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the patties are golden brown.

Assemble the Burgers: Toast the whole wheat burger buns lightly on the grill or in the skillet. Place a lettuce leaf on each bun bottom, followed by the turkey patty. Top with sliced cucumber and red onion.

Drizzle and Serve: Drizzle additional sweet chili sauce over the patties and cap the burgers with the top bun. Serve hot with your favorite side.
