Ingredients

1 cup (227g) unsalted butter, melted

2 cups (400g) granulated sugar

4 large eggs

1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract

1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour

1 cup (unsweetened cocoa powder)

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1 cup (175g) chocolate chips (semi-sweet or dark, your choice)

1 cup (100g) walnuts or pecans, chopped (optional)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9x13 inch baking pan with parchment paper, allowing the edges of the paper to hang over for easy removal later.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter and granulated sugar. Whisk together until well combined and the mixture is smooth.

Add the eggs, one at a time, whisking well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract until fully integrated.

In another bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, folding gently with a spatula or wooden spoon until just combined. Be careful not to over-mix; a few lumps are okay.

Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts (if using), ensuring an even distribution throughout the batter.

Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly.

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes. A toothpick inserted into the center should come out with a few moist crumbs attached for that perfect chewy texture.

Once done, remove from the oven and let it cool in the pan on a wire rack for about 15-20 minutes. Then, lift the brownies out using the parchment paper overhang and allow them to cool completely before cutting into squares.

Serve the brownies warm or at room temperature, and enjoy!
